MyKitchen Home

A note from Joe

I built this because I kept ordering takeout with a fridge full of food.

MyKitchen Home started with a question I kept asking myself: “What can I actually make with what I have?”

Why MyKitchen Home exists

Sound familiar?

I'd get home, open the fridge, look through the cabinets, and still have no idea what to make. Then I'd order something, even though I probably had the ingredients for a good dinner right there.

I wanted an easier way to see what I already had, find something to cook, and buy only what was missing. That's what I'm building with MyKitchen Home. It brings your kitchen, recipes, weekly plan and shopping list together so dinner takes a little less thought.

If it helps you cook at home more often, waste a little less food, or just avoid one “what's for dinner?” moment, it's doing what I hoped it would.

About me

Hi, I'm Joe.

I'm the independent developer behind MyKitchen Home. I like taking an everyday problem, figuring out why it's frustrating, and building something useful to make it easier. My background is in software development and cloud systems, but this app came from a very ordinary part of my day: trying to make dinner.

I'm still shaping it around what makes cooking and managing a kitchen easier for real people.

How it's made

Useful without the hoops.

You don't need an account or a subscription to start using MyKitchen Home. Your personal kitchen stays on your phone, and the core features work offline. If you choose to share a kitchen, it's encrypted on your phone before it's synced.

The cookbook draws from open recipe collections and credits the original sources. I'm keeping the technology behind the app lean so I can keep improving the experience without making it harder or more expensive to use.
