Getting started

Do I need an account?

No. There's nothing to sign up for and no password. Your kitchen is saved on your phone.

Does the app work offline?

Yes. Everything works without a connection. Shared kitchens catch up when you're back online.

How do I suggest a feature?

In the app, open the three-line menu at the top of any tab → Feature request. You can see what's planned on the roadmap.

Sharing

How do I share my kitchen with my family?

In the Kitchen tab, tap the people button → Invite someone, and send the private link or show the QR code. The other person opens it, adds their name, and joins. Everyone sees the same items, shopping list and plans.

Someone left or I want to stop sharing. What happens?

Leaving a shared kitchen keeps a copy of the kitchen on your phone. Kitchen owners can reset the invite link, which removes the old shared copy from our server and stops old links from working.

How do I share one of my recipes with everyone?

Open a recipe you wrote in the app and tap Share to the cookbook. You can add a name for the credit, or leave it empty. Joe reviews every recipe before it's added; you'll see "In the cookbook" on your recipe once it's live. Recipes made with "Make it mine" from a cookbook recipe can't be shared, because they're based on someone else's work. To have a shared recipe removed, email support@mykitchenhomeapp.com.

Your kitchen & data

I deleted something by mistake. Can I get it back?

For items removed in the last hour, use the three-line menu → Activity & undo in the Kitchen tab. Shared kitchens also keep restore points (people button → Restore points), and Settings → Backups keeps copies on your phone.

I'm getting a new iPhone. How do I keep my kitchen?

If your kitchen is shared, open the invite on the new phone (another household member can send a fresh invite). For a kitchen that isn't shared, save a backup file in Settings → Backups and open it on the new phone. iPhone backups also include the app's data.

How do I delete my data?

Deleting the app removes everything stored on your phone. For a shared kitchen, an owner can reset the invite link to delete the shared copy on our server, or email us and we'll help. See the privacy policy for details.

Where do the recipes come from?

Open recipe collections (the Wikibooks Cookbook and the NIH NHLBI), plus recipes shared by MyKitchen Home cooks and reviewed before they're added. Every recipe credits its source. More about the recipe sources.

Still stuck?

Email support@mykitchenhomeapp.com with what happened and your app version (Settings, at the bottom). For partnerships, press or anything else, email hello@mykitchenhomeapp.com.

Please don't email invite links, backup files or receipt photos. An invite link works like a key to your shared kitchen.
